Ravensbourne graduate Liy Grant has been featured as part of Universities UK’s 100 Faces 2024 campaign in celebration of her incredible achievements as a first-generation student.

100 Faces celebrates the stories and achievements of students who were the first in their families to go to university.

By showcasing their journeys, it sets out to amplify their voices and challenge the narrative that university is for a particular type of person.

We were incredibly proud to nominate and support Liy, who is one of 18 graduates featured in the ‘arts and sports’ category.

Liy first joined us in 2016 to study our Access to Higher Education course, designed for learners who are returning to education. She then went on to study on our BA (Hons) Advertising and Brand Design course, graduating in 2021.

As a first-generation mature learner, she overcame significant challenges, including taking the brave decision to give up fulltime work and return to study.

She excelled during her time at Ravensbourne, going above and beyond to be an advocate for mental health and diversity initiatives.

Since graduating, Liy has secured a job as a Creative Copywriter at Mother, one of the world’s leading advertising agencies. There, she has produced campaigns for huge brands including KFC, H&M, and IKEA.

She is currently on a six-month placement in New York learning about the American market.

Liy is still very engaged with Ravensbourne and continues to support our current students. She has delivered lecturers at part of our ‘Rave Late’ programme and has contributed to the ‘Kick Start’ programme, supporting future creatives.
