Photography students showcase work at Peckham Levels exhibition

Third-year BA (Hons) Digital Photography students recently showcased their work at Peckham Levels, holding an exhibition over five days. The students also launched their own photography book in celebration of 10 years of the course. 

Peckham Levels is a creative hub in the heart of South-East London, converted from a multi-storey car park in 2017. The venue also comprises of workspace for emerging artists, designers, makers and creative entrepreneurs. 

The exhibition explored the students’ interpretations of identity, and how the provocative subject is captured on camera. They interrogated how society views identity, while celebrating the beauty of diverse, authentic expression. Their photos were compiled into a book that encapsulates the talent and perspectives on the course, making a fitting tribute to its philosophy and attitude towards contemporary photography.

The course has developed a strong industry focus over the past decade encouraging creativity and innovation within its students. Photography student Zaynab Lawal commented that, ‘Seeing my work exhibited, as well as my classmates, was surreal. It’s been my favourite project to work on so far and I’m just really proud of it.’
