MA Fashion student’s work is the new cover of BOYFRIEND magazine
He hasn't even finished his MA Fashion course and David Caracuel's work has been selected to appear in BOYFRIEND magazine, a new London-based publication for emerging fashion designers and creatives.
The shoot was lead by photographer Ira Giorgetti, who has shot for Elle and L’Officiel, and styled by Kay Altamira, who has been credited in Dreamingless, House of Solo, and Disorder.
David explains that the inspiration for his collection, 'A new masculine parachute', is based on the feeling someone experiences when skydiving - anxiety, fear, worry, happiness and relief. An emotional reaction that relates to what a man experiences when he steps out of his comfort zone and takes the risk to wear something he is not used to.
Through his collection David aims to transmit a sense of freedom, to challenge society’s rules of traditional masculinity from which a new type of man can rise. A man that is not afraid to embrace his sensitive side. A man that is proud to be different and stand out from the crowd.
Hand-weaving, knitting and dyeing are some of the techniques utilised throughout the collection and each piece is hand-made and unique. Every textile was chosen to evoke a sense of delicacy and softness.
