Tony Branch BA Hons, PGCE (Dist), MA (Dist)
Biography
Tony has worked in a number of institutions at a senior academic and management level (including being Head of School) for a number of years.
Tony has held Advanced Practitioner and Teaching Innovation Practitioner status, mentoring staff at a range of levels. Central to his practice has always been the quality of the learner journey and experience; the courses he has previously managed have consistently scored significantly higher than the national average in terms of the National Student Survey (NSS).
Tony has worked as a professional illustrator, some of the clients he has undertaken work for include Penguin Books, Viking Books, Hamish Hamilton, Fantail books, Methuen Books, Heinemann Books, The Sunday Telegraph, The Observer, The Guardian, Macmillan IPC Magazines, EMAP Publications, VNU Publications, National Magazines, Centaur Communications, Creative Review plus other titles, RIBA Journal, Marks and Spencer, Street Sounds Records, Noble Works USA, Abbey Life, Music Fidelity. He has also had work selected for European Illustration and The Association of Illustrators ‘Images’ Showcases.
In regards to research, in recent years, Tony has explored the potential of using Graphic Information Systems and Visual Narrative to facilitate learning in relation, theoretical and contextual aspects of the curriculum. In addition, over the past five years he has been involved in art directing and producing visual promotional works for an Essex-based independent record label, with work being showcased at Glastonbury, Rough Trade London and New York, Channel 4 and the Netflix Series ‘Sex Education’. He also recently contributed to a show with the ‘Thames Group of Artists’ entitled ‘All Kind of Naughty’, celebrating the work of Ian Dury.
