Biography
Sasha Djurkovic is an Associate Professor in the Digital Film Production department at Ravensbourne University London. She leads the second-year documentary film production module and oversees third-year final major projects. Sasha joined Ravensbourne University London in 2017 and has earned a Higher Education Fellowship through the completion of a PGCert.
Aside from her academic role, Sasha is an experienced professional practitioner with almost two decades of crafting award-winning documentaries for broadcasters like BBC, Channel 4, ITV, and Al Jazeera. She is a member of BAFTA, Directors UK, and We Are Doc Women, contributing to professional networks and development. Sasha holds an MA in Documentary Film Directing from the National Film and TV School, known for its excellence. Her graduation film, "Last Men Standing," received acclaim and won the Best Newcomer Award at the Sheffield International Doc Festival in 2005.
Her films have tackled challenging subject matters: mothers with addiction issues (Addicted: Last Chance Mums, BBC1), child-protection social workers (Protecting Our Children, BBC2), drug wars in the UK, USA and Afghanistan (Our Drugs War, Channel 4), and life and death at a neurosurgery ward (Brain Doctors, BBC2).
