Biography

Luke is an architect in the UK and the Course Leader for BA (Hons) Architecture at Ravensbourne University.

Luke has experience in both professional practice and education as project architect and academic leadership, respectively, and has been fortunate enough to collaborate on projects in Budapest, France, Romania, South Korea, Taipei, Spain, Serbia, France, and United Arab Emirates.

He is committed to diversifying the profession through widening participation and has led on projects and committees to develop new routes to architectural qualification in the UK; most notably leading Level 6 Architectural Assistant and Level 7 Architect apprenticeship courses and delivering the End Point Assessments at both levels.

From Luke’s efforts to coalesce academia and professional practice, he has established a considerable professional network that extends internationally. Luke has taught across undergraduate and postgraduate courses and at the intersections of Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Architectural Technology.

He is passionate about the influence of the design studio as a driver of ideas, expression, and innovation. Previously, Luke has led design studios whose students have received notable accolades in architecture such as the RIBA’s President’s Medals, Silver Medal Commendation, the RIBA’s Wren Scholarship, RIBA Regional Awards, The International MasterPrize in Architecture - Student Award, and the DNA Design Awards in Paris. Students of Luke have exhibited their work at the RIBA, on Dezeen, the Architect’s Journal, Building Design, and at the International Venice Biennale 2021. Moreover, Luke is a member of the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Validation panel, and a committee member of the RIBA’s New Courses Group.

Most recently, Luke has chaired visiting boards at notable institutions in the UK and been a panel member for international boards. He has also been a panel member on UNESCO-UIA validation panels. Luke is also an External Examiner for the Architecture March at De Montfort University, Leicester.

Luke is currently developing a Handbook for Architecture Apprentices with the RIBA, due to his extensive knowledge in this new route to the profession. Furthermore, Luke has completed a MA in Philosophy, has a certificate as a BREEAM New Construction Assessor, and completed a GVC (General Visual Line of Sight) certificate, to fly drones commercially.

He is a registered architect with the ARB (Architect’s Registration Board) and a Senior Fellow of the HEA (Higher Education Academy).
