Biography
Patrick Monroe
Patrick was born in east London in 1962, and from an early age he was fascinated by clothes and fashion. At secondary school his experiments with lino printing on shirts won an arts award and, with it, attention from the BBC, and at 16 Patrick was accepted to the London College of Fashion – the first student from his school ever to go to fashion college.
Since then, Patrick has established himself as an advanced Gerber pattern maker and flat pattern cutter in both mens and womenswear. He has exhibited at Tate Modern and worked for numerous global fashion brands including Alexander McQueen, Anoushka Hempel, Roland Mouret, Jasper Conran and many others, as well as lecturing on his subject.
Outside the world of fashion, Patrick has conceived initiatives including the children’s sports concept Fit4Kids – which he presented on the BBC’s Dragon’s Den – and setting up a renewable energy company in Northern Mozambique.
