Welcome information

To help prepare you for the course please purchase a copy of Universal Principles of UX: 100 Timeless Strategies to Create Positive Interactions between People and Technology (4), Rockport Universal.  

Task: Universal Principles of UX pairs clear explanations of each concept with visual examples of the ideas applied in practice. The book is organized into six broad categories: Please reflect on the following principals below in your sketchbook with an example for each principal.

• Define 

• Research 

• Design 

• Validate 

Course equipment 

You will benefit from having the following equipment to support your studies. If you have any questions, please speak to your course team during Welcome Week. You will not need to bring this equipment to Welcome Week. 

• Sketchbook A5 or A4  
• Drawing equipment – your own preferred choice of pens and pencils  
• Ruler for storyboard framing 
• Scissors  
• Glue  
• Sticky notes in several colours

Your first week commences on Tuesday 16 January.

During this week it is important that you attend your enrolment session to complete your in-person enrolment and become an official Ravensbourne University Student. Following this you will be able to attend induction sessions which will cover key information about studying at Ravensbourne and being a successful student.

Inductions - Wednesday 17 January 

10.00am - 12.00pm - International Student Induction, room 404/405

Welcome Social Event - Thursday 18 January

5.00pm - 8.00pm, room 404/405

Connect with new students and meet our international support team and students' union. This is a chance to form friendships and learn more about Ravensbourne.  Food and refreshments will be provided.

All activities will take place at our main campus: Ravensbourne University London, 6 Penrose Way, London, SE10 0EW

Your teaching starts in the week commencing Monday 22 January. You will have three teaching sessions each week as follows: 

Monday, 9.00am - 1.00pm, room R3-208

Monday, 2.00pm - 6.00pm, room R3-208

Tuesday, 9.00am - 1.00pm, room R3-208

Occasionally your timetable might get updated due to a room or other change.

If you have any questions ahead of joining us, our online drop-in sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays, 1.00pm - 2.00pm UK Time, starting Tuesday 2 January.
