Welcome information

The book below will be very useful throughout your studies. We are not suggesting that you need to purchase it at this stage or read the whole book before you start, however it will be relevant to a range of modules. For the first semester the chapter: ‘Contemporary and Future Practice’, would be especially useful.

Course equipment 

You will benefit from having the following equipment to support your studies. If you have any questions, please speak to your course team during Welcome Week. You will not need to bring this equipment to Welcome Week. 

If you have a tablet device they can be helpful for your practise, please bring them along if you have one, but they are not compulsory.

General drawing materials would also be useful: pencils and pens, possibly extending to brushes and ink. We are not sending out an extensive list at this stage as we would like to see and discuss how you work. We can have these discussions during the early period of teaching.

Laptop requirements 

Please see our laptop requirements document to ensure you have a device that will be suitable for your studies.

Your course welcome week activities will be taking place on the following date. This is a really important time for you to meet fellow students, your course team and become part of the Ravensbourne community. These sessions will cover key information about your course and everything you need to set you up for your studies.

Students’ Union Welcome Festival

International Welcome Week runs from Tuesday 12 September - Friday 15 September. If you’re an international student, it is important that you attend in this week to complete your enrolment, get all the information you need to best prepare your for studying in the UK and meet fellow international students on your course. 

Wednesday 13 September: 12.00pm - 1.00pm - In-Person Enrolment

Thursday 14 September: 9.30am - 4.30pm - International Induction

Your teaching starts in the week commencing Monday 25 September. In semester one you will have three teaching sessions each week as follows:

Monday, 1.30pm - 4.30pm, room ICT 02

Monday, 9.30am - 12.30pm, room ICT 02 

Occasionally your timetable might get updated due to a room or other change.

If you have any questions ahead of joining us, our online drop-in sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays, 1.00pm - 2.00pm UK Time, starting Friday 11 August through to Friday 30 September 2023.
