Concept and creative process
A computer-controlled 35mm film shoot of a specially made model was the basis of the 1991 Winter campaign for BBC Two. Ice, crystals, clam shells and fossilised swimming creatures that thawed out and came back to life, a mysterious crystal eye were some of the elements that populated the enigmatic concept. Unusually the ident bears no BBC Two branding and is fairly neutral in concept. The reason for this may have been the impending launch of the re-branded BBC Two channel ident in February 1991 for which Martin Lambie-Nairn had been commissioned.
